Music

In our school, the music curriculum aims to equip the children with the knowledge, understanding and skills to be lifelong learners and to enjoy, participate and achieve in music. We believe that music should be an enjoyable experience for pupils and teachers, therefore we create exciting opportunities for children and adults to participate in a range of musical experiences, such as subject lessons, singing assemblies, listening to live music, and performing. Music helps children develop their RANGER skills of being resourceful, adaptable, curious, enthusiastic and resilient. We believe that it is an integral part of a happy and healthy childhood.

Children at Stoke Park Infant School have an opportunity to participate in music lessons delivered by RockSteady (every Thursday during term time). Once a term our little rock stars perform for their parents and their friends.

Our school choir, led by Mrs Flynn and Mr Kent, meets once a week to learn songs and enjoy singing together. They take part in Wyvern Cluster Vocal Festival which brings all the local schools together to learn and enjoy music. The children from 5 to 18-years-old work together to perform for our local community at Thornden Hall. This is always a wonderful experience for our young vocalists and we are very proud to be able to represent Stoke Park Infants outside of school.

We work closely with Hampshire Music Service which provides resources and creates opportunities for the Hampshire children to learn about and make music. When children move on to junior school and KS2 (from Year 3 onwards), they will be given an opportunity to sign up for peripatetic music lessons. This service is provided by HMS in our sister school,  Stoke Park Juniors.
